Elareshi, Mokhtar

Independent Media Researcher

Elareshi is Senior Lecturer in Media and Communications Studies and a former Head of Media Department at Azzaytuna University 2003-2006. Elareshi graduated in Media and Communications Studies (BA) and Public Relations (MA) at the University of Benghazi. After than he has got seven years’ working and teaching experience in large Libyan universities. These are University Tripoli, University of Misurata, Azzaytuna University and Al-Mergeb University. Currently, I am a media research specialist. I took a degree at University of Leicester, UK (PhD, 2013). My doctoral research examined the news consumption in Libya: Students' Perspectives. Since then, I continue to do research projects and studies about communication, Arab media and social media issues. My main research interests include news consumption, young Arab, satellite TV, the Internet and smart phone. I have also conducted research projects on a wide range of other media and journalism issues. I am currently working on 2 books on the political communication, and manufacturing stereotypes of Arab and Muslim in the mainstream western media.
