Leroy, Didier

Researcher, Chair of Sociology


Didier LEROY obtained his Ph D in 2010 under co-tutelage of the Royal Military Academy (Social and Military Sciences) and the Free University of Brussels (Social and Political Sciences). He also has a multidisciplinary training: Master's Degree in Oriental Philology and History, Orientation Assyriology (ULB, 2002); Transdisciplinary DEA, contemporary debates and stakes (ULB 2004), and Master's Degree in Study of Religions and Secularity, Orientation Islam (ULB, 2008). Today, Didier LEROY is a researcher for the Chair of Sociology of the Royal Military Academy and a part time assistant teacher in the framework of the Master in Population and Development Sciences at the Free University of Brussels. Since 2005, he is also scientific collaborator for the CECID (Centre for Study of the International Cooperation and Development) of the ULB. He is also a member of the Board of the Circle of Researchers on the Middle East (CCMO) and associate researcher at the Observatory on the Middle East and North Africa (OMAN) at the University of Quebec at Montreal (UQAM). An expert of Islamism in the Middle East, his doctoral dissertation analyzed the ideological and structural evolution of Hezbollah in Lebanon.
