Kayaal, Tugce

Near Eastern Studies

Tugce Kayaal is a Ph.D. candidate in the Near Eastern Studies Program at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Before coming to Michigan, she completed her BA degree in Marmara University Political Science and International Relations program (2007-2011), and her MA degree in Sabanci University History program (2011-2013) in Istanbul. Her research interests are the 19th century Ottoman Political and Social History, History of Childhood and Youth in the 20th Century Ottoman Empire and the Middle East. Her dissertation project focuses on the history of war orphans and national belonging(s) in the early twentieth century Ottoman Anatolia.
