Emily Gottreich is the Chair of both the CMES and the undergraduate major in MES at UC Berkeley. She is author of The Mellah of Marrakech: Jewish and Muslim Space in Morocco’s Red City (2007) and co-editor with Daniel Schroeter of Jewish Culture and Society in North Africa (2011). Her forthcoming work is entitled Jewish Morocco: A History from Pre-Islamic to Post-Colonial Times. She is a Past President of the American Institute for Maghrib Studies (2009-2013), and a current member of CAFMENA (North America).
