[C4965] Middle East Feminist and Queer Studies: State of the Field

Created by Frances S. Hasso
Monday, 11/20/17 1:00pm

The Editors of the Journal of Middle East Women's Studies plan to hold a thematic conversation on the state of the field in scholarship on gender and sexuality, including the relationship of textual content and theories to journal cover art and artistic production. Discussion will also center on some of the most important directions that are emerging in scholarly inquiry; pitfalls and how to avoid them as a scholar and aspiring published author; future art directions; and under-examined areas in submissions. Participants will offer about 10 minutes of remarks each and will open the floor for discussion. This conversation would continue three years of conversation the editors have had at Duke each spring with NC members of the editorial board. If accepted, the incoming editorial team will continue this conversation at the MESA 2018 meeting.
