You must have a myMESA account for approval of an exemption request. Please create a user account in myMESA before submitting your request for an exemption if you do not have one. An exemption allows you to submit a proposal without paying membership dues. This is a one-time exemption from the membership requirement to submit a proposal. The waiver does not exempt you from paying the required registration fee. However this is not due until after the program committee has reviewed proposals. See https://my-mesa.org/login EXEMPTION CATEGORIES 1 - If you have never been a MESA member nor previously participated in a MESA meeting, are a foreign scholar residing abroad, and not attending a US, Canadian, or Mexican institution. 2 - If you have never been a MESA member nor previously participated in a MESA meeting, and a scholar or professional outside the Middle East studies community*. *Middle East studies encompasses those disciplines typically falling within the social sciences and humanities, but also includes other fields that may be of interest within the MES community. For those disciplines that are generally considered outside the field, it would be helpful to know the context of your submission.
Check the box below that applies to you, complete the form and hit continue. Please note that for those who receive the waiver and are selected to be on the program that pre-registration is required by May 15. You may at that time want to become a MESA member to receive the discounted rate for members.
