Stanik, Joseph T.

Adjunct Professor, Social Studies


Joseph T. Stanik, a retired U.S. Navy officer, retired secondary social studies teacher in Baltimore City Public Schools, and former history instructor at the U.S. Naval Academy, is the author of “Swift and Effective Retribution”: The U.S. Sixth Fleet and the Confrontation with Qaddafi (1996) and El Dorado Canyon: Reagan's Undeclared War with Qaddafi (2003). He teaches Middle Eastern history at Anne Arundel Community College in Maryland and serves as secretary of the Middle East Outreach Council. A graduate of the Naval Academy, he holds advanced degrees from the Naval Postgraduate School and University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
