Peterson, Luke




Luke Peterson has a Bachelors of Arts in History from the University of Texas (1999), a Masters of Liberal Arts from St. Edward’s University (2004), and a Masters of Arts in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Texas (2007). He completed a PhD at The University of Cambridge (King’s College) in the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies investigating language, media, and knowledge surrounding the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Dr. Peterson has published in the British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies, has chapters in three anthologies, a monograph entitled Palestine in the American Mind: The Discourse on Palestine in the Contemporary United States, and his new book entitled Palestine-Israel in the Print News Media: Contending Discourses is now available through Routledge Publications, London. Dr. Peterson moved to Pittsburgh in the fall of 2014 to take up the post of Visiting Assistant Professor in Contemporary International Issues in the University of Pittsburgh’s Global Studies Center for the academic year 2014 – 2015. From Pittsburgh, Dr. Peterson continues to contribute to local, national, and international media coverage on topics related to the politics, history, and culture of the contemporary Middle East.
