Waleed Hazbun is Richard L. Chambers Professor of Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Alabama, USA. He holds a PhD in political science from MIT, and before joining Alabama in 2018 he previously taught at the Johns Hopkins and at the American University of Beirut where he served as Director of the Center for Arab and Middle East Studies (CAMES) from 2011 to 2016. He is author of Beaches, Ruins, Resorts: The Politics of Tourism in the Arab World (Minnesota, 2008) and co-editor of New Conflict Dynamics: Between Regional Autonomy and Intervention in the Middle East and North Africa (Copenhagen, 2017). His new project addresses the global politics of travel and aviation.
