AMERICAN CENTER OF ORIENTAL RESEARCH (ACOR) IN AMMAN

ACOR is a private, non-profit academic research center founded in 1968. It has a significant library as well as a large hostel in Amman and permanent headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia.  With its core mission to advance knowledge of Jordan past and present, ACOR has become an international hub for scholars and students to conduct long-term research in diverse topics within the humanities and social sciences in the wider MENA region. ACOR provides fellowships funded by NEH, CAORC, and private donors, and in recent years has offered an award to support a former ACOR fellow presenting at the MESA annual meeting. Among other publications, ACOR provides a newsletter twice a year in print and online and has published a number of significant archaeological publications relevant to Jordan. No membership is required. See www.acorjordan.org for more information and for general inquiries, please write to acor@acorjordan.org.
