AMERICAN CENTER OF RESEARCH (ACOR) IN AMMAN
Established in 1968, the American Center of Research (ACOR) in Amman is an international, non-profit academic institution, which advances understanding of Jordan and the Middle East, past and present. ACOR facilitates the acquisition of knowledge through research and dialogue with an extensive library and archive, fellowship and scholarship programs, and residential facilities. ACOR promotes archaeological research, cultural heritage preservation, and knowledge-sharing through lectures, digital resources, publications, workshops, and training programs. ACOR serves as a conduit for cultural exchange among students, professionals, and the public in Jordan and beyond.
ACOR provides fellowships funded by NEH, CAORC, and private donors, and in recent years has offered an award to support a former ACOR fellow presenting at the MESA annual meeting. Among other publications, ACOR provides a newsletter twice a year in print and online and has published a number of significant archaeological publications relevant to Jordan.
