American Institute for Maghrib Studies (AIMS)
Membership: 300. Annual dues: $100 full; $50 student; $500 institutional. AIMS is a private nonprofit, nonpolitical organization which promotes the systematic study of North Africa (Maghrib). AIMS sponsors The Journal of North African Studies, publishes an annual report, an annual roster of members, and research directory, sponsors yearly academic conferences in North Africa, provides funding support for students and scholars to perform research in the Maghrib, offers competitions for prizes and travel awards, has an annual dissertation workshop and mentoring program for student members, and maintains overseas research centers in Tunis (CEMAT), Tangier (TALIM), and Oran (CEMA).
