American Institute of Iranian Studies (AIIrS)

Founded in 1967. Annual dues: $750.00 institutional. AIIrS is a nonprofit, nongovernmental research organization and a member of CAORC. AIIrS supports the advancement of knowledge and understanding of Iran and Persian culture and civilization from the earliest periods to the present. Its purview is the historical Persian world of Central Asia, the Middle East and South Asia, and the modern political state of Iran. AIIrS awards student fellowships for Persian language study in Tajikistan, as well as pre-doctoral and senior grants for Iranian Studies research. It supports occasional conferences and awards the annual Lois Roth Persian Translation Prize.
