The Department of Middle Eastern Studies in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a lecturer position in Persian starting in fall 2020. This faculty member is expected to teach Persian language courses at all levels (from the beginner level through advanced-level content courses) for an average of twelve hours per week, according to the needs of the program. They will also coordinate the Persian program, and will be tasked with growing and strengthening the program. This position is renewable annually; contingent upon budgetary funding and performance. Security sensitive position; background check conducted on applicant selected.


The successful candidate will be a native or near-native speaker of Persian. A PhD in Persian or a related field is preferred. Applicants should have university teaching experience. Experience in program coordination is highly desirable.
