The Department of Middle Eastern Languages at Carleton College invites applications for a fulltime lecturer in its dynamic and growing Arabic program, to begin September 1, 2020. This is a two-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal. We seek candidates who can teach Arabic courses at all levels, and are passionate about teaching in a liberal arts setting. Native or near-native fluency in both Arabic and English is required, proficiency in Egyptian Arabic dialect is preferred.
The successful candidate will hold an MA or Ph.D. in applied linguistics, and will have a year or more experience in teaching Modern Standard Arabic at the college level in an American university. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a willingness to participate actively in the life of the department and to contribute to extracurricular and service activities. Teaching load is two courses per term, in a 10-week trimester system.
Lecturers at Carleton are continuing members of the faculty and central to the life of their respective departments as well of the College as a whole.
