The Department of Religious Studies at Bucknell University invites applications for a one-year visiting position in Islamic Studies, to begin in August 2020.

Teaching load is six courses for the academic year (three per semester). Teaching responsibilities include RELI 201: Islam, a 100-level course (such as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam; Introduction to the Quran; or another introductory course of the candidate's design), and upper-level courses in the candidate's area of expertise. We especially welcome applicants able to offer a course focused on Islam in America.

Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. by start date.

The Department of Religious Studies at Bucknell serves majors and minors pursuing the academic study of religion, as well as a large number of students from across the university. The ideal candidate will be a teacher-scholar with an interest in interdisciplinary approaches to the study of Islam, and with a demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity and the liberal arts mission.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, C.V., statement of teaching philosophy, and a sample syllabus for a course on Islam. Applicants who pass the initial stage of review will be asked to provide three letters of recommendation.
