The Response to the Coronavirus Pandemic in the Middle East

The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted Middle Eastern countries in drastically variable fashions. Iran was struck early and became a global epicenter; Jordan's early lockdown appears to have contained the spread of the virus with high efficiency; Turkey now appears to be in the midst of a widespread outbreak. Across the region, the pandemic has threatened to exacerbate existing social, political, and economic issues in various countries. Please join the Kevorkian Center and two medical experts, physician and medical anthropologist Orkideh Behrouzan (SOAS) and epidemiologist Amira Roess (George Mason University), for a virtual panel on June 9 to discuss the current situation across the region and share their expertise.
