The English for Heritage Language Speakers Program (EHLS) is recruiting participants, who will be prepared for positions in the federal government. Native speakers of critical languages are in high demand in the U.S. government.
The application is now open, and we are actively recruiting for the EHLS 2023 cohort.
We are hosting weekly informational webinars, and extensive program and application information is available on the website: https://www.ehlsprogram.org/
Here are the languages that participants must speak. Some of them are relevant to you and the schools you work with. Or if you know people working with these languages, please forward this to them.
--Amharic, Arabic, Azerbaijani, Balochi, Bambara, Dari, Hausa, Hindi, Kazakh, Korean, Kurdish (Kurmanji), Kurdish (Sorani), Kyrgyz, Mandarin Chinese, Pashto, Persian Farsi, Punjabi, Russian, Somali, Tajik, Tamashek, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Uzbek, Vietnamese
Candidates need to receive an ILR 3 or higher on an OPI in their heritage language and a rating of ILR 2 or higher in all four domains of English at entry.
