The Media Studies Program in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Media Studies (SOAM) at the American University of Beirut invites applications for a tenure-track assistant or tenured associate professor of media studies to begin August 15, 2024. Primary responsibilities include conducting cutting-edge research, teaching both core and elective undergraduate and graduate courses, and supervising MA theses.
The Program is especially interested in recruiting an expert in digital media and culture, with a preference for applicants who focus on the Global South. Applicants should demonstrate thorough grounding in the field of media studies and a clear engagement with recent debates in digital media studies. The applicant should be prepared to teach existing courses within the Media Studies Program, as well as to propose new courses that expand the Program’s curriculum and appeal. This position requires a PhD in media studies or a related discipline. SOAM places a high premium on collegiality and professionalism.
