Association of Middle East Children and Youth Studies (AMECYS)

The Association of Middle East Children and Youth Studies (AMECYS) is a private, non-profit, international association for scholars with an interest in the study of children and youth in the Middle East, North Africa and their diasporic communities. Through interdisciplinary programs, publications, and services, AMECYS promotes innovative scholarship, facilitates global academic exchange, and enhances public understanding about Middle Eastern children and youth in diverse times and places. A substantial number of MESA members who identify as specialists in this subfield are its members. AMECYS was formed in 2017 and although in its infancy, has already attracted over 250 scholars globally to its listserv.  An AMECYS Graduate Student Paper Prize is awarded in November and AMECYS aspires to regularly sponsor panels and a reception at MESA, host its own website, and hold a workshop.
