Middle East Economic Association (MEEA)
Founded in 1978. Membership: 1,000. Annual dues: $30 regular members from “high income” countries; $15 regular members from all other countries; $20 students from “high income” countries; $10 students from all other countries. MEEA is a private nonprofit, nonpolitical organization fostering economic research on contemporary and historical issues in countries of the Middle East and North Africa region. Emphasis is placed on contending analytical perspectives and cross-country comparisons. MEEA holds an annual meeting with the Allied Social Science Association (ASSA), an annual international summer conference in a MENA country, other conferences jointly sponsored with other organizations, and publishes an electronic proceedings journal and newsletter.
