MESA 2012 Aramex Visiting Scholar
MESA invites applications for the 2012 Aramex Visiting Scholar grant that will fund an Arab, Middle East-based scholar to present a paper at the MESA 2012 meeting in Denver, Colorado, November 17-20, 2012. The grant will cover travel, lodging, per diem, and visa costs associated with attending the MESA annual meeting.
To apply, applicants must:
1) submit a paper proposal through MESA's online submission system by February 15, 2012. Papers must be submitted and presented in English, and must fall within MESA's purview: "the area encompassing Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, Israel, Pakistan, and the countries of the Arab world from the seventh century to modern times. Other regions, including Spain, Southeastern Europe, China and the former Soviet Union, also are included for the periods in which their territories were parts of the Middle Eastern empires or were under the influence of Middle Eastern civilization."
2) submit a cover letter, a CV, and two letters of reference directly to the MESA Secretariat by post or email (firstname.lastname@example.org) by the February 15, 2012 deadline.
Pending acceptance of the paper by MESA's program committee, applications will be reviewed by a sub-committee of MESA's Board of Directors, which will select the winner. Scholars who have had fewer opportunities to present their research at international scholarly meetings will be given priority.
The deadline for all application materials, including submitting a paper through MESA's online submission system, is February 15, 2012.
The Aramex Visiting Scholar grant is funded by Aramex International, a global logistics solutions provider.
