In recognition of his exceptional service of over fifty years to Middle East Studies and; With deep appreciation for his role in the formation and foundation of MESA and his unswerving commitment to it since 1966; His tireless work for numerous groups supporting philanthropy in the Middle East, student study abroad and dialogue between practitioners and scholars and; His distinguished representation of U.S. scholarly interest in and expertise on the Middle East to individuals and institutions in the region. It is an honor to recognize Howard A. Reed, an unfailingly gracious colleague whose work has enhanced Middle East studies scholarship and understanding of the region.
