In recognition of her exceptional contributions to the education and training of others in Middle East studies. With deep appreciation for her joy in the formation of young scholars: as an advisor she combined uncompromising philological standards, textual knowledge and formidable argumentative structure with a deep and genuine interest in any question her students brought to her, all the while insisting that they understand and emulate the standards of the classical Muslim scholars they studied. It is an honor to recognize Wadad Kadi an outstanding mentor and exemplary colleague who represents and encourages the best in Middle East and Islamic studies.
