Association for Middle East Anthropology (AMEA)

The Association for Middle East Anthropology  is a private, non-profit organization of scholars and individuals with a professional interest in Anthropology in the context of the Middle East / North Africa (MENA) and beyond, including transnational and diasporic MENA communities in Europe, North and South America, and elsewhere. AMEA’s main objective is to advance the study of Anthropology in the Middle East. In order to do this, we work to promote and stimulate scientific research in Anthropology in MENA, facilitate communication among scholars through various meetings, and promote cooperation among members of AMEA and individuals, organizations, and the public concerned with Anthropology in MENA and beyond. AMEA also connects and collaborates with the Middle East Section of the American Anthropological Association (AAA).
