In recognition of his tireless efforts to enhance communication and exchange among the disparate and divided units of European academia; And for his efforts to bring together multiple disciplines across time periods, resulting in stronger linkages and greater programmatic density between the German Middle East Studies Association (Davo) and the European Association for Middle Eastern Studies (EURAMES); And his extraordinary efforts to nurture and implement the World Congress for Middle Eastern Studies (WOCMES), now a vibrant platform for the exchange of research and scholarship; This award celebrates his vision for, and skill at, building new institutional frameworks that have benefited scholars across the globe. It is an honor to recognize Günter Meyer, a creative, dedicated, and generous colleague.
