ALIF Summer Arabic Institute in Fes, Morocco

The Arabic Language Institute in Fez (ALIF) is a globally-oriented center that aims to educate and engage students from around the world in Arabic, North African culture, cross-cultural communication, research, and community service. ALIF's 2024 Summer Arabic Institute runs from May 21 to July 26, 2024. Students can opt for 3, 6, or 9 weeks of Arabic instruction totaling 60, 120, or 180 hours respectively. Courses run from complete beginners to advanced in Modern Standard Arabic and beginning and intermediate for Darija (Moroccan colloquial Arabic).

Housing options available include a homestay with a Moroccan family or a room in the ALIF residence hall. Additionally, ALIF offers language partners, academic excursions, cultural programming, a library/computer lab, and a variety of clubs for all its students.

Fes, one of Morocco's largest cities, has two distinct environments; that of the old medina and the new city (aka ville nouvelle). The medina, a medieval maze of narrow alleyways, has UNESCO World Heritage status. The ville nouvelle on the other hand, was built by the French and has wide tree-lined boulevards. Regardless of which Fes you’re in, you’ll find warm, welcoming people, legendary hospitality, and some of the best cuisine Morocco has to offer.
