MESA has joined other organizations in an Open letter to the Emirati authorities to free human rights defender Ahmed Mansoor on his 50th Birthday.
MESA's Committee on Academic Freedom has written several letters on Ahmed Mansoor's behalf. He was arrested 19 March 2017 and media reports indicate that Mr. Mansoor has been on hunger strike since mid-March 2019 in protest of his unjust trial.
