MSCA Fellowships in Venice

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-PF) are a generous, if competitive, program managed by the European Research Executive Agency. They award fellowships of two or three years' duration designed to jumpstart the careers of scholars within eight years of the completion of their PhDs, in all scientific disciplines, through international and intersectoral mobility in collaboration with a supervisor.

Ca' Foscari University of Venice is among the top ten host institutions in Europe and number one in Italy for MSCA Individual Fellowships, having made a point of supporting the careers of early career scholars. The European Commission has recognized the university's applicant support as a good practice in research management.

MSCA fellowships offer preferential access to a tenure-track job in some European countries, and achieving a high score on an application frequently unlocks other funding opportunities. Several MESA members have won under the supervision of Prof. Matteo Legrenzi in the last few years.

Information about the fellowship:

Candidates must be postdoctoral researchers at the date of the call deadline — that is, must have successfully defended the doctoral thesis, even if the degree has yet to be awarded.

At the call deadline, supported researchers must have a maximum of eight years' full-time equivalent experience in research, measured from the date the researcher was in possession of a doctoral degree. Years of experience outside research and career breaks (e.g., maternal or parental leave) are not taken into account.

European Fellowships are held in EU Member States or Associated Countries and are open to researchers coming to Europe or moving within Europe for 12 to 24 months. Candidates applying with Ca' Foscari cannot have resided or carried out their main activity in Italy between September 8, 2024 and September 8, 2027.

Global Fellowships fund a project carried out in two countries, based on a secondment to a third country (12 to 24 months) and a mandatory 12-month return period to a European host institution. Candidates must be nationals or long-term residents of EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries.

Financial support includes a living allowance (€6,350/month, with a country correction coefficient), mobility allowance (€710/month), and family allowance (€660/month), plus institutional contributions for research, training, networking, management, and indirect costs.
